Company History:
Field and Stream features popular outdoor activities like hunting and fishing in the United States. The magazine is among the three major outdoors publications in America. The other two magazines included in the list are Outdoor Life and Sports Afield.

Field and Stream was founded in 1985. Many magazine issues tackled topics like trout, birds, rifles, shotguns, bass and deer depending on the season when it is released. Forest and Stream was among its strongest competitors. However, Field and Stream absorbed the magazine in 1930.

Field and Stream has also worked with Dynamix and Sierra Online. The partnership resulted in the creation of hunting and fishing video games called the Trophy Hunting and Trophy Bass series.
Field and Stream has gone through a series of management changes over the years. In 1951, it was bought by Henry Holt and Company. Unfortunately, Holt ended up being sold to CBS. Afterwards, CBS sold their magazines to Peter Diamandis in a leveraged buyout. Diamandis then sold the magazine to the Times Mirror Company that was later purchased by Time Inc. in 2001. The magazine ended up with Bonnier Group in 2007 as one of the 18 magazines sold by Time Inc. However, there are still many other goods and services that carry the Field and Stream name. These products are not related to the Bonnier Group. They are owned by other investment groups that were given the right to use the name.

In 2006, the major outdoor magazines Outdoor Life and Field and Stream worked with Northeastern Log Homes. The company is among North America’s leading log home manufacturers. The partnership aimed to produce Field and Stream and Outdoor Life Dream Cabins. The project was the result of the unique collaboration between the two outdoor magazine companies, Northeastern Log Homes, editors, readers and online users. The project site for the Field and Stream Dream Cabin was in Jeffersonville, VT, at Sterling Ridge resort. Meanwhile, the Outdoor Life Dream Cabin was built in Carbondale, IL, at the Cabin on the Hill Resort. These cabins are the ultimate homes for outdoorsmen.

  2. I thought you'd want to know that you have a major typographical error in this piece. It states "Field and Stream was founded in 1985" when of course you meant 1895.
